Worldwide Indigenous Science Network
The Worldwide Indigenous Science Network (WISN), 501(c)(3), is an educational organization that interfaces western and indigenous cultures. WISN coordinates a global network of indigenous Elders and advocates for at risk indigenous practitioners and traditional knowledge. They conduct research, host international conferences and cultural exchanges, and with academic partners offer advanced degree programs in Indigenous Mind.
Philippine indigenous communities recognize a woman (or man) as a Babaylan, someone who has the ability to mediate with the spirit world, has her own spirit guides, and is given gifts of healing, foretelling, and insight. The Babaylan name is used by those who are inspired by the spirit of revolution against colonization, a belief in Sacred Wholeness, a love of mother country, and a desire to serve their communities in achieving justice and peace.
Indigenous Mind.
Indigenous Science is one of the major intellectual traditions of humanity; it is distinguished from other wisdom traditions in that it is both a way of knowing and being that emanates from the Earth. Like western forms of inquiry, Indigenous Science includes a study of foundational literature but unlike other forms of science, the pedagogical foundation of Indigenous Science also derives from ancient rock writings that set forth knowledge and ways of merging with the earth based, holistic consciousness.
